The 6th policy and technical workshop takes place in Hanoi, Vietnam, to address outstanding technical and governance issues for the passport. Thirteen APEC economies attend (Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam). The workshop also engages with funds management industry representatives.
This is the first time that China participates in passport discussions and is represented by officials from the Shanghai Financial Services Office.
The workshop discussions agree on a high level technical model for the passport, but recognise that additional work needs to be done on the details that would underpin the framework.
This workshop includes 2 days of capacity building training with targeted APEC developing economies.
